Stand with back to travellers memorial  on main road outside Coughton Court (by pedestrian traffic lights). Go R along main road A435 to pass in front of Coughton Court. Pass car entrance, over River Arrow and turn immediately R to pass in front of a pair of cottages to a kissing gate by a National Trust sign for Coughton Court.  Take kissing gate and go half L across field to distant gate. Take gate and go with metal fence L to find corner gate by electricity pole. Take gate and go L along edge of field with hedge fence and ditch L to field corner. Turn R and go with hedge L to find gate by an oak tree.

Take gate and go 1/2 R across field to gate in hedge with ditch. Take gate and ahead, River Arrow bank on R. Go with river bank R to find foot bridge over river. Cross footbridge and go straight across field, aim for distant church. Go through kissing gate to R of church and turn L along track to road.

At road turn R and proceed to pass a cottage on the L hand side then turn L off road by wide recessed field entrance and kissing gate on R. Go diagonally to find a second gate. Turn R and pass along a fenced way at the back of cottages. Go through metal gate. Proceed uphill with hedge on L reach summit ignoring stile on L and reach gate in top corner of field. Take gate and go ahead passing twin timber electricity poles in middle of field and continue downhill to find corner field gap in hedge.

Go ahead hedge L. Go downhill along field edge with hedge L. At bottom of hill reach junction of three tracks. Take gate adjacent to house drive and go through garden with a deep ditch and hedge on your R and a pond L, to exit by gate.

Take gate and continue forward along field edge with ditch and hedge on your R  towards metal gate some 50 paces L at end of field. Go through metal gate and cross a narrow stream. Go over field to exit by mid field kissing gate.

Cross track and go through gate, and ahead with fence R and ditch L to find drive way. Go L on driveway, and where it turns into house go ahead shortly observe transformer on pole L. Go 80 paces further on to marker and then go 1/2 R to field corner gap L.

Take gap and go ahead with hedge L to exit by field corner gap. Ahead to exit next field by corner gap.

Proceed uphill along field edge with barbed wire strand fence on your R.  At brow go down to bottom of field corner, take gap and go ahead some 50 paces to find wooden gate L.

Go through gate and go 1/2 R over field to mid hedge metal gate. Take gate and proceed along field edge with hedge L to kissing gate to road. Turn R and walk uphill to Bannams Wood on your L. Continue forward and go downhill to where road bends R by a house Highfield and turn L take gate in gate to a track into Bannams Wood. (Note that the woods are a Site of Special Scientific Interest).

Go forward climbing up track. At division of paths, just before brow of hill, with bench to mark 25th Anniversary of Heart of England Way, turn R. Continue forward going left where track divides. Continue up to find a derelict wagon on your R and go ahead. Follow path as it meanders through wood and come take metal. Go with fence R to take stile.

Go down field with hedge on L go steeply down hill to field corner passing pond on L and then turn half L to go through some saplings to take kissing gate to road. Go straight across road and go through gap in hedge into field.

Follow field edge with hedge on L to field corner and pass through gap in hedge. Continue forward along field edge with hedge on L to field corner and go through gap. Go half R to stile in centre of far hedge. Cross and go forward across centre of field to stile and wooden planked footbridge over deep ditch in hedge. Cross and continue ahead over top of hill and on to stile in double fenced hedge in field corner. Cross and go forward to stile in second double fenced hedge. Cross and go half left down hill to stile in hedge. Cross and continue forward passing marker post in field centre to far L field corner.

Turn L over a metal footbridge across stream and immediately cross stile to go down a step to cross culverted ditch and half R up steps to stile. Cross and turn L along field edge with hedge on L to reach two oak trees about three quarters of way up field and turn R across field to stile in timber rail fence. Cross into paddock and go ahead to stile and cross into small Orchard. Go ahead to cross next stile on to tar macadam drive. Go half R on to gravel drive to house on R and cross unusual stile in wall by wooden gate and reach road with Well Cottage on your R. (Take a few moments to look down old well.)

Go straight across road to cross stile. Go half R over brow of hill to see and reach marker post against L hedge and then forward across field to next marker post and almost immediately to a third marker post in L field corner. Turn L down steps to stile. Go R across stile and follow sunken path down enclosed field edge with hedge R to kissing gate. Take kissing gate and immediately cross metal footbridge across ditch into field. Go L with fence L to field corner to find metal gate (Ignore metal kissing gate on L). Take gate and go ahead and right up tree lined passage to find metal gate. Take gate and go ahead to find metal  kissing gate.

Take gat and go forward along fenced path with allotments on both sides to cross over railway footbridge and go half L down path to Station Road. Turn L and after some 10 paces take alleyway R (Swan Croft) leading down to High Street. Cross road by pedestrian traffic lights. Turn R and come to the church of St John the Baptist.

Henley in Arden to Coughton

With back to St John the Baptist Church on the High Street in Henley in Arden. Go R (past the Guild House). In a few yards cross the road at the pedestrian traffic lights and go L along High Street, in
30 paces go R up alleyway signed to the Station. Go up alleyway through the car park for the Swan Pub.  Continue following signs to Station (into Swan Croft).  At end of alleyway bear left and after a few paces go up slope to Railway Station Bridge and cross Railway.

ontinue forward on a fenced path with allotments on both sides to reach Metal kissing gate. Take gate and go ahead through further metal gate along tree lined passage to find metal gate. Take gate (ignoring metal kissing gate immediately on R) and go ahead with fence R to find metal footbridge.

Cross metal footbridge across ditch to kissing gate. Take kissing gate and go ahead along enclosed field edge path with hedge on L and wire fence on R and into sunken way up to stile. Cross a wooden stile, turn immediately L and up steps to reach field. Go R and then forward until you reach a marker post by corner of hedge, then go half L over summit and down to metal gate and stile.

Cross stile, go straight across main road, up drive to R of Well Cottage (take a few moments to look down old well) and cross interesting stile in brick walk to R of gate. Go ahead through gate into small Orchard. Continue forward, cross stile into paddock and cross next stile into field. Go straight ahead to two oak trees in hedge and turn L along field edge with hedge on R to field corner. Cross stile and go R down steps and L across culverted ditch to cross another stile and forward to metal footbridge over stream.

Turn half R across field passing marker post and on to stile in hedge. Cross stile and go half L across field to cross stile in fence enclosed hedge and continue half L to a stile by a gate in second fence enclosed hedge. Go half R to cross stile and wooden planked footbridge over deep ditch.

Continue forward to cross stile in next hedge and go half R to field corner gap. Take gap and continue along field edge with hedge on R. Reach R corner and go through gap in hedge and continue along next field with hedge on R. Reach field corner and go through gap in hedge to lane.

Cross lane and take kissing gate. Go half L through some saplings into field and turn R. Pass pond on R and go uphill along field edge with hedge on R. Follow path as it winds through wood, pass an old wagon on your L. Continue following the winding path downwards, where path divides keep L as path. Continue downhill as the path widens to a track. A track joins from your L and then come to a T junction, turn L. Follow the track down hill to reach a gate in gate to road.

Proceed down track past entrance to private driveway to find large pylon with overhead cables. (Do not continue to road) Go R with fence L and hedge and ditch R to find metal gate. Take gate and cross driveway to find further gate.

Take gate and go ahead to pass under pylons to far corner to find metal gate. Take gate and go 1/2 L to find far corner field stile / gate. Ahead into garden of a large house. Go with hedge L, pass pond R to exit by gate L of house entrance gat

Emerge at the junction of three tracks, turn R and walk up the hill along the field edge with hedge R to field corner gap. Take gap and ahead uphill passing twin timber electricity poles in middle of field. Continue to summit and go forward to find gate in near corner of field. Cross stile and go downhill with hedge on R to reach metal gate and pass along a fenced way at the back of a pair of cottages to exit by metal gate. Over field corner to metal kissing gate to road.

Go R pass cottage R and follow road round to take first metalled driveway L on corner by large house with out buildings, leading to The Former Church of St Leonards Spernall. Pass Church on your R and immediately after Church Gate go through kissing gate. Go ahead with fence R, and ahead to find metal footbridge. Cross bridge over the River Arrow and ahead close to bank of River Arrow L then into the narrowing of the field with a Leylandi hedge R to take kissing gate.

Go 1/2 R across the next field to the corner where there are a number of hedgerow oaks, to find gate. Take gate, turn immediately R with a hedge R and a fence on your L. Go to the field corner, stay in field, turn L and go with the hedge R. On reaching the next corner of the field take kissing gate to next field where there is a National Trust sign for Coughton Court. Go forward for a short way with a metal rail fence on your R to take another kissing gate. Go half L across the field towards the cottages on the far side to exit by kissing gate.

Pass in front of a pair of cottages, built 1913 and 1896, on your R hand side, emerging onto the main Alcester/Studley road A435 . Turn immediately L cross bridge over the River Arrow, pass the car entrance to Coughton Court, (which is well worth a visit). Continue along the A439 with superb view of Coughton Court to L until you reach main gate by pedestrian traffic lights. (take great care the A439 is very busy with vehicles going far to fast.).
