Cubbington to Long Itchington

E(177)     Face Kings Head at Cubbington. Go L uphill 75 mtrs to join way-marked footpath alongside children's play area. At end of play area turn R.

E(178)     Follow footpath downhill, keeping hedge on R. At bottom comer follow path around to L and in 75 mtrs turn R over small metal and concrete bridge. Follow footpath towards wood, keeping hedge on R. At bottom comer follow path around to L and in 50 mtrs turn R into wood (Do not continue round field to waymarked bridge).

E(179)     Follow path through wood. At exit turn R. Follow path around edge of field towards farm, keeping hedge on R and ignoring footbridge on R.

E(180)     At bottom comer of field, with farm on L, continue ahead over metal and concrete bridge. With hedge now on L, in 75 mtrs reach well defined farm track. Turn R uphill to way-mark.

E(181)     At way-mark turn L and go downhill across field to small concrete bridge. Cross fence and continue ahead keeping hedge on L to small brick built building.

E(182)     Cross stile and continue ahead to wooden bridge in L comer of field. Cross bridge, leaving farm on R. Continue ahead up field bearing a little L to avoid large hollow in field. Cross stile in mid hedge and continue ahead. Cross second stile and continue to pub in distance (Red Lion at Hunningham - aiming for stile left of booster station).

E(183)     Exit onto road and turn R. Cross road bridge over River Learn.

E(184)     Opposite The Red Lion, cross stile and cross water meadow, with river on right. Ignoring stile on left, proceed to stile by gate. Cross stile go 1/2 L to pass to L of church and find gate exit to road. Go R and follow road to junction (Sunrise Cottage). Turn L after 20 paces cross road to enter large field.

E(185)     Proceed uphill and cross stile at top of field. Continue through gap in hedge to cross second stile / bridge and angle slightly left uphill to reach exit stile onto road (by telegraph pole). Turn R on road. In  100 mtrs, cross junction with Fosse Way. Proceed on road past Hunningham Meadows to railway bridge across road.

E(186)     Scramble up side of bridge onto disused rail track - taking care on steep slope. Turn R and in 400 mtrs reach junction where two tracks merge. Turn L (U turn) onto second track. Continue for 1200 mtrs and watch carefully for footpath crossing the track.

E(187)     Turn L through broken metal gate and almost immediately R to cross tubular bridge over river, and follow footpath along river. After some 200 paces turn L (No marked path - official path lost) make your way though undergrowth to come to open field.

E(188)     Emerge from wood by lone tree/way-mark. Turn Rand proceed to stile at end of field. Cross stile and turn L. Follow round edge of field with hedge on L. Towards top of field, notice large farm buildings on L. Follow way-marked path between fences to pass through end gate. Cross field diagonally L. Cross stile to path between houses. Follow path to end and turn R into Short Lane.

E(189)     In 50 mtrs turn R again, and in 100 mtrs turn L onto small road. Proceed ahead to cross bridge over river. After bridge take kissing gate on L and walk river bank to exit onto another small road. Turn L over another bridge and in 50 mtrs turn R. to reach Holy Trinity Church in 100 mtrs.

Long Itchington to Cubbington

(W57)       Face Holy Trinity Church and go R. Take  Bascote Road L signposted 'Bascote'.

(W58)       Cross bridge over river. In 70 mtrs turn R. Go down to cross stile into field. Go down centre of field with river R (Ignore stile L) and continue ahead with river R to take far mid fence kissing gate by river bridge, to small road.

(W59)       Go R to cross road bridge and pass 30mph signs. At junction go R after 150 paces go L into Short Lane.

(W60)       After 40 paces turn L onto path to rear of houses to take kissing gate. Go 1/2 L to find farm gate. Take first gate and go ahead with wall R to second gate, Take gate and go ahead with farm buildings R. At third gate proceed straight ahead with fence R.

(W61)       Follow edge of field, keeping hedge on R. At bottom of field follow hedge round to L. In 200 paces take kissing gate R in hedge.

(W62)       Go ahead, after some 100 paces (some 100 paces before lone tree) enter woods L (no evident pathway - this path lost) make way through rough undergrowth to find path alongside river - go right with river left to find tubular bridge over river. Cross bridge and turn L. In 20 paces go through metal gate to disused railway line.

(W63)       Turn R onto track. Walk ahead for some 1200 mtrs, crossing 2 road bridges. The track is joined eventually by a similar track coming in from R. At junction, turn R onto this and in 400 mtrs reach a road bridge. Scramble down L side of bridge to join road below (advise extreme care!).

(W64)       Turn L to Hunningham Hill (passing Hunningham Meadows) and junction with Fosse Way. Cross Fosse Way, and in 100 mtrs look for stile in hedge on L (next to telegraph pole).

(W65)       Cross stile, go 1/2 R to far corner and then R 50 mtrs to find bridge stile. Cross this stile and go ahead to find hedge gap. Through gap and go with hedge R to take stile into large field. Go ahead to find far hedge gap and road. Go L on road for some 10 mtrs to find road R.

(W66)       Take Road, pass Sunrise Cottage and enter old Hunningham, and very pretty. At end of road find church. Take gate to R of church yard and go with fence L. At end of fence go ahead 1/2 L downhill to find gate/stile.

(W67)       Take stile and go with River Learn on L, Go ahead (ignore stile R)  to water meadow. Cross meadow to take stile opposite Red Lion Pub to road.

(W68)       Go L to cross road bridge over River Learn to pass electricity sub-station. Immediately past Severn-Trent booster station take gate L. Go 1/2 L to find gate by telegraph pole to R of buildings.

(W69)       Take gate and cross narrow field to take kissing gate. Go ahead across field centre to find kissing gate. Take kissing gate and go 1/4 L find kissing gate by wooden bridge in far hedge. Cross bridge and go ahead with hedge R to find kissing gate to L of isolated building.

(W70)       Cross stile and continue with hedge on R to cross small concrete bridge.

(W71)       Follow path ahead uphill to reach waymark at farm track. Turn R downhill and in 75 mtrs at hedge corner turn L, keeping hedge on R for 75 mtrs to find hedge gap giving access to metal and concrete bridge over stream. Cross bridge and continue ahead with hedge L.

(W72)       Follow path round to R at comer of field and in 50 mtrs turn L to enter wood by way-mark. On entering follow main path as it swings R, continue through wood to exit on far side. Turn L and follow well worn track round field in direction of Cubbington village, keeping hedge on L.

(W73)       In comer of field cross tubular bridge. Turn L to follow path around field and up to houses. At houses turn left along ally way and in 150 mtrs reach Kings Head and Cubbington Church.
